Dr Victor Duong FRACP
Respiratory medicine
Dr Victor Duong is a graduate of the University of Queensland. He attained Fellowship of the
Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) after completing respiratory and sleep
medicine training at Northern Health and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr Duong holds a public appointment at Northern Health and is currently undertaking a PhD
at the University of Melbourne, exploring ways to integrate the latest technological
advances into ambulatory care for individuals with malignant pleural effusions. He has been
involved in an Australian-first public hospital trial at Northern Health to bring digital remote
examination into consumer’s homes. Dr Duong is actively involved in education for junior
doctors, physician trainees and nurses.
Dr Duong is trained in all areas of respiratory and sleep medicine, with special interests in
pleural disease, airway disease, obstructive sleep apnoea and the perioperative
management of respiratory conditions. He is an advocate of person-centred and holistic
care, and believes that the best outcomes are achieved through shared decision making
with the individual and their treating clinicians.
Inpatient services
Dr Duong provides inpatient consultations at Epworth Richmond and Epworth Freemasons. Referrers can contact him through the Epworth switchboard on (03) 9426 6666.
Outpatient services
Dr Duong sees outpatients at Suite 9.3, Danks Wing, Epworth Richmond. The rooms can be found on the ninth floor, using the lifts nearest the hospital's main reception area. The rooms are wheelchair accessible. Paid car parking is available in the hospital carpark and the surrounding streets. Public transport access is via the route 48 or 75 trams (stop 15).
Pathology, radiology, and pharmacy services are available on-site.
Dr Duong also provides telehealth services using doxy.me. This secure service can be accessed from any web browser on your computer, tablet or smartphone. There is no need to install additional apps or software. The virtual waiting room can be accessed at doxy.me/perspectivemedicine.

Patients who have urgent clinical issues or emergencies should contact standard urgent-care services, including Nurse-on-Call, your general practitioner, local emergency department, or the ambulance service.
Fees
Dr Duong does not charge an out-of-pocket "gap" for inpatient consultations, which will be billed directly to your insurer. Uninsured patients will be charged the equivalent of the AHSA benefit.
All appointments (face-to-face and telehealth) attract a private fee, which is payable on the day of appointment via credit or debit card:
Standard initial consultation $350
Complex initial consultation (60min) $500
Standard review consultation $150
Complex review consultation (30 min) $250
Medicare rebates apply to all services with a valid referral. Medicare claims will be submitted by administrative staff and paid into the bank account you have provided to Medicare.
Medicare-ineligible patients will be charged a fee equal to the Medicare rebate for the relevant consultation.
Patients seeking reimbursement for fees from Workcover or TAC will be given an invoice for use in making a claim.
